UX Job Market Update: May 26, Warm at 68

Despite 28,722 layoffs, Product Design postings soared by 9.9% in May.

This month, the US job market witnessed a significant uptick in Product Design roles, even as major companies like Meta and PayPal announced thousands of layoffs. This paradox highlights a restructuring phase, where some sectors are contracting while others, particularly in Product Design, are expanding.

Design Engineering, which includes AI Product Designer roles, also saw impressive growth, suggesting that demand for tech-savvy design talent remains strong. Interestingly, while UX Research roles declined by over 13%, the rise in Design Operations positions indicates a renewed focus on optimizing design processes.
